QUESTIONS/ANSWERS

In this post I would like to answer to your questions, thank you very much for those!!

Is it hard to own a dog?

-Yes, sometimes. You always have to take care of him and you are responsible of him at all times. Still I think it is totally worth it.

What is the best thing about owning a dog?

-Maybe the fact that I always have a friend to count on. He’s always by my side and you know, animals are lit af.

When did you get Rafael?

-When I was 16, so on Christmas two years ago.

To whom the dogs Luke and Hilda belongs to? Who are they?

-Luke is my boyfriend’s dog, a Bernese mountain dog, and Hilda is my dad’s girlfriend’s dog. Hilda is also a golden retriever like Rafael but she looks very much different because of her smaller size and yellower color.

Does Rafael have any silly habits?

-He always would like to sit on peoples lap and if the people don’t let him (like they usually don’t because he’s pretty big  😀 ) he puts his paw on the person’s lap as they pet him.

What’s the worst thing he has ever done as a puppy?

-Once he chewed a hole on my most expensive shoes. Also he has peed on my lap a couple of times…

Can he do any tricks?

Just the basics: ”sit”, ”stay”, ”down”, etc.

What is his favorite food?

Every food seems to be his favorite. 😀

Thank you for your questions and reading it, that would be all for now!! Bye x

Challenges as a dog owner

Sorry about my last post, it was a message to my Finnish followers.

To get to the point, today I want to tell you something that I have found challenging after getting a dog. Most of the challenges were expected before I got Rafael but obviously there were some things that may have surprised me more than I thought.

First thing has been the allergy that I have dealt with. When Rafael was a puppy he often licked my neck or his nails scratched me which caused some itching and light asthmatic symptoms. Luckily now because of the exposure to the allergen I’m not as allergic as I was before.

Other ”challenges” has been Rafael’s day care issues. Because Raffe and I live alone, if I’m away from home I need to get someone to watch over him. Usually I can get someone on time to take care of him (often it’s my sister, father or my boyfriends parents) but there has also been times that I have gotten to stay at home.

There have even been times that I have been spending the evening at my friend’s place, but had to get home early because of Raffe. He doesn’t generally like being home alone when it’s dark, so if he misses me too much he makes it clear. Also, I think he had had a long day by himself so that’s why he was protesting. Anyway, my neighbours send me text that Rafael was being a bit too loud and they started to get bothered. Problem was solved when I went home and took him to nice long walk 🙂

These are maybe the biggest ones that comes to my mind but if there are any questions you can just state them in the comments. Have a nice week 🙂

Girl’s best friend

I write this blog about my dog because he is my best friend. He always makes me smile and especially he likes to comfort me when I’m feeling sad. When I got Raffe as a puppy I obviously loved my little fluffy darling but I was also very excited about getting the bestest of friends when he’ll grow up. And that’s what he is nowadays.

Here is Rafael as a puppy. About 3 months old.

When Rafael has gotten older, it is easier to consider him as a friend then as a child that needs care and attenttion all the time. Of course I give that now also but it’s nice to know that he doesn’t require it all the time and is capable of some independency. I have considered getting a cat, because I like animals and so that Raffe wouldn’t have to be alone when I’m at school. Unfortunately I am little bit too allergic to cats so for now I don’t think I should risk it.

Before I got Rafael I was also very allergic to dogs but that has gotten better now, so I think that in some point I would be able to get a cat. Maybe at some point of my life where the house where I’m living is big enough so that if necessary I could get some distance to the cat. 🙂

Thank you again for reading and I hope to see you in my next post!!

Rafael’s friends

As I said in our first post Raffe is a very friendly dog and comes along with other dogs very well. Rafael is also very fond of cats but usually cats do not like his over excited approach. 🙁

Here is Rafael playing with his so called ”girlfriend” Hilda.

Introduction

Hello and welcome to my blog.

My name is Annika and I write a blog about my golden retriever. His name is Rafael but he is often called Raffe. Today is actually a good day to start a blog about him because it is his second birthday today!

Raffe is very friendly and his favorite thing to do is swimming. When ever he sees a place where to get his paws wet, it seems like the best day in the world for him and he could swim for hours and hours. Usually I tend to tire him out by playing fetch in the water.

Thanks for your attention and see you in our next post 🙂
